Planet of Sound
From playing records to classmates and rowdy local drinkers in the pub after school to co-founding what has since become one of the longest running indie club nights in the country, presenter Kevin Robinson was passionately committed and consistently successful in giving primetime exposure to an extraordinary and diverse range of artists from an early age. Fleeing the fens during the dying days of Britpop and lured by the bright lights of the capital, he worked his way from DJ-ing in darkened club backrooms to residencies in the capital's alternative hotspots.
He went on to become a writer for a groundbreaking internationally distributed music and fashion magazine, often credited for breaking bands such as The Horrors, and is currently a correspondent for award winning journalist John Robb's Louder Than War website.
Planet Of Sound is not defined by any particular genre but, rather, is as musically diverse and innovative as possible, rather than rigidly adhering to the traditional rules and regulations of broadcasting.
Playlists and formatted radio are discarded, and in their place is a fresh, contemporary show that will hopefully serve the needs of, and reflect the brilliant work of, the many creative and culturally significant people who work within East London and beyond; those people who release and distribute cutting edge and pioneering sounds and promote live music from all corners of the globe.
Embracing everything from dubstep to drone, ska to synthwave, disco to disco-not-disco and rock to rocksteady, Planet Of Sound is thrilled to join Shoreditch Radio.
