A Valentino Factory in Bucine, Italy, that specialises in the Rockstud was destroyed in a fire in early April. Valentino is creating a recovery plan to keep up with production of 1,300 shoes a day. The fire took place in the early hours of April 2nd. No one was harmed in the fire but over 38,000 pairs of shoes were destroyed.
Anya Hindmarch is due to open a five-store ‘Retail Village’ in Belgravia, London as part of a new brand strategy. The mini village will include pop up activities, a café and different retail areas for her product range. It is due to open on the 17th May 2021.
Kim Kardashian maybe moving into skincare. The beauty mogul filed in March to trademark the name SKKN, which will not only apply to skincare but also haircare and nailcare. Kris Jenner, Kim’s momager, also filed in February for trademarks to ‘Kris Jenner Skin’, ‘Kris Jenner Skincare’ and ‘Kris Jenner Beauty’.
Italian influencer Chiara Ferragni is due to join Tod’s board of directors. The shoe brand is hoping that a fresh pair of eyes will bring a youthful approach to the brands designs and increase popularity with younger markets.
Legendary photographer June Newton has passed away, on Friday 9th April, at age 97. Her work was usually under the pseudonym Alice Springs, seen featured in many Vogue, Elle and Vanity Fair publications. June was married to photographic icon Helmut Newton for over 50 years and was president of The Helmut Newton Foundation focused on preserving his legacy. The Helmut Newton Foundation said on its website: “We mourn the loss of an outstanding person and an internationally recognised photographer. We will deeply miss her.”
